Cooler Master Taipei: A Modern Office Design

Integrating Technology and Craftsmanship for a Unique Working Environment

The design of Cooler Master Taipei stands out with its unique features and strengths. One notable aspect is the linear lighting in the atrium, which highlights the staircase structure and creates a dramatic immersive experience. The smart lighting system not only provides illumination but also contributes to energy-saving efforts. Additionally, the ceiling in the lobby is finished with a high-performance soft-shell sound-absorbing system, creating museum-quality acoustics in the space.

The realization of this design involved the use of advanced technologies and materials. The three skylights in the atrium were molded on-site using GRG, resulting in varying light and shadow effects in the interior. In the open office area, a double-layer track lighting system was implemented to meet current lighting demands while allowing for future adjustments.

Cooler Master Taipei spans an area of 7,013 square meters and falls under the categories of office interior, co-working interior, and office building. The design team, led by Desfa Group Inc., included members such as Howard Wang, Michael Dungca, Aleksandra Kaminska, Anja Chen, Noki Lin, and Emi Kuo.

The functionality of the design is a key aspect that sets Cooler Master Taipei apart. The grid wall structure and customized mobile display furniture system cater to various display needs, while the movable cubicle system maximizes the utilization of limited space in the multi-functional area. The internal office space promotes collaboration, efficiency, and openness, taking advantage of optimal daylighting conditions to enhance the well-being of the staff.

The project, which started in September 2018 and was completed in August 2021, is located in Taipei, Taiwan, China. Throughout the design process, the team conducted extensive research to translate the "maker spirit" into a spatial medium that embodies the brand's values and creates a vibrant and inclusive working environment.

Despite facing challenges, such as meeting emergency escape requirements and navigating the post-pandemic era, the design team successfully overcame obstacles to bring Cooler Master Taipei to life. The result is a space that reflects the essence of the brand and provides a unique and customized experience for its occupants.

Cooler Master Taipei has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that showcase technical and creative skills, contribute to quality of life improvements, and make a positive impact on the world.
